Bret Michaels hospitalized after 'warning stroke'

The rocker and reality TV star suffered what doctors called a "warning stroke" and has been diagnosed with a patent oval forum, or a hole in the heart, according to a report posted Thursday on its website. Michaels's publicist, Joann Mignano, confirmed the report.

Michaels was hospitalized after experiencing numbness in the left side of his body, especially in the face and hands.

Doctors said the condition is treatable and manageable, and probably not related to cerebral hemorrhage at 47 years old, suffered last month.

Michaels neurosurgeon said that although the leader of venom has an attitude "fantastic" about making a full recovery, "Bret brain and body are not quite 100 percent yet, especially with the hole in his heart."

Additional tests are being carried out to determine the best course of treatment. The doctors said that Michaels is being treated with a daily injection of an anticoagulant to reduce the risk of blood clots.

Its home page says Michaels was "walking, talking, continue his rehabilitation on a daily and very happy to be alive."

"He has made it clear that he is sick and tired of being in the hospital and is ready to rock again," the site says.

Michaels is expected to appear at Sunday's final of Donald Trump's "The Celebrity Apprentice" in New York. NBC said in a statement that the network is "cautiously optimistic" that Michaels can attend the final of the season alive.

"Ultimately, it depends on Bret and their doctors whether to attend," the statement said.

In the episode, the revelation of Trump's boardroom winner will be broadcast live. The rest of the show was recorded last year, including the final challenge segment.
